Early last month, Pokemon and LEGO announced a bunch of different Pokemon LEGO Sets that went live for pre-order, and now they’ve added five more sets to this lineup, including some really popular Pokemon. This new announcement has quite a few fan favourite Pokemon and some heavy hitters in it, including some minifigures, that look absolutely delightful.
LEGO Pokemon Rayquaza
First up is the absolutely stunning, gravity defying LEGO Pokemon Rayquaza set, which has you building a long legendary Pokemon out of 1,038 pieces. Rayquaza is one that loads of us are currently hunting for in Pokemon Go at the moment, so it’s neat to see it in LEGO form. The details and little display – including having the dragon-type legendary fly above ground – is so well done. It’s based on the iconic Sky Pillar scene from Pokemon Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire, and also includes a minifigure of Lorekeeper Zinnia.
LEGO Pokémon Arcanine
The LEGO Pokémon Arcanine is a 1,190 piece, fully poseable LEGO take on the majestic fire-type Pokemon, and I’m a big fan of how the mane and fur of it is suspended, giving it an appearance of movement It’s such a powerful look and the details within the build are just fantastic looking.
LEGO Pokemon Iconic Trainer Moments Poke Ball
This set is probably my personal favourite, as it looks like a giant Polly Pocket turned into Pokemon-themed LEGO set. This poke ball is a display piece, where you can open and close the lid of the Poke Ball, revealing a scene inside.
It’s a 2,368 piece build, featuring a battle scene, Professor Oak’s laboratory, and a few characters including a tiny Eevee and Pikachu.
LEGO Pokemon Munchlax
The LEGO Pokemon Munchlax is the smallest build in the release, with only 757 pieces. The Munchlax itself, on it’s little log, is 18-cm high, and captures a very charming moment of the Pokemon eating some apples. It is a very adorable piece with so many great details. Of all of them, I think this is definitely the one best suited to sit on your desk – subtle enough to slot by your screen.
LEGO Pokemon Up-Scaled Red Minifigure
The LEGO Pokemon Up-Scaled Red Minifigure is a very large version of the Pokemon Red trainer, complete with a Poke Ball. It’s a 930 piece set, with the iconic Red Hat, red vest and pin. You can pose the arms, legs, and rotate the head of this figure, to change the way it’s showcased.
This pre-order of the Pokemon LEGO feels like it’s much more aimed at adults and collectors than children, vastly different than the LEGO SMART tech, which was featured in the previous pre-order sets! Although, regardless, these are surely very exciting to see for fans of all ages.
