Trading cards are everywhere, so I wasn’t too surprised when McDonald’s Universe was released. You can now order specific meals (not Happy Meals!) to gain packs of cards that you can open and collect.
You can order a McDonald’s Universe CARDS meal: Big Mac meal, Double Big Mac Meal, 9 McNuggets Meal, 9 Spicy McNuggets meal or a McPlant meal. Inside your meal, you will find a pack of four cards, one of which always gives you free food.
This sort of reminds me of McDonald’s Monopoly, where there are sets of cards that can be collected to get prizes. Some of the prizes include merch like T-Shirts and collectable tins, while others include cash prizes. There is one super rare chase card that instantly wins you £10k – so there are a lot that can be collected!
Cards come in four different categories, one of which is a Legendary Category, which I keep getting cards from at their events! On the back of these cards, there are codes that you can easily put into the McDonald’s app, so that you can have a digital album collection to keep track of what cards you’ve got and what offers you have won.
I am personally surprised that these cards don’t have a game element to them, as it feels like you could do some sort of battling, but love the various designs – with a throw of retro put in there! I can see fans of McDonald’s over the years really enjoying a lot of the classic artwork and I do think the Fan cards are so m uch fun as well.
