BALL x PIT, Devolver’s hit ball-shooting extravaganza has reached the end of the road with the final free update, The Naturalist, being added to the main game for all to play. It adds characters, new passive abilities and of course, more balls!
With The Naturalist update two new characters will be introduced to BALL x PIT and will be available to unlock. The Bola Shooter lets you stack up on slots for the bola but has you forego passive item upgrades leading for raw damage over abilities. The Hoarder flips the script and allows you to have more passive slots over bolas allowing for item evolutions to lead you to success.
When we reviewed Ball X Pit we declared that it “is filled with opportunities to grow, build and break a lot of brick shaped enemies.” And, that certainly seemed to resonate with fans.
Balls are quite literally the name of the game and with 11 new additions being thrown into the chaos with The Naturalist update there’ll be plenty of new choices for combinations and abilities to roll over enemies. Some of the new balls include the electric bug that spawns fireflies with each bounce, these are attracted to enemies and strike them down with a lightning bolt on contact. Armageddon summons the end times and drops a meteor shower on foes as soon as it hits the enemy leaving nothing but devastation on the field.
There are a total of five passive abilities being added with The Naturalist, allowing for a lot of new whacky combinations to blow away enemies and create a lot of unique scenarios on the battlefield. Some of these new additions include the Platinum Dumbbell, an item that rewards accuracy as balls are granted a damage boost until they hit the back wall letting you snipe some of the more chunky enemies with wall bounces. There’s also the remote detonator, this can turn downed enemies into remote bombs to assist you in clearing other enemies out after they have been defeated with explosive bomb balls.
BALL x PIT’s final free update is absolutely over flowing with free additions and goodies to keep you balling over enemies and make your runs that bit more unique. The Naturalist update and BALL x PIT is available on PC, PS5, XBOX, Nintendo Switch 1 & 2 and is also available on mobile platforms.
