WH950NB Headphones: High Quality Audio With a Premium Feel
The WH950NB Wireless Headphones come in a compact, oval-shaped case with a small pouch to carry accessories (such as the C-type charging cable which came with it). The headphones were in the case in an odd sort of contorted way in which the ears both fold and twist to create a shape that roughly matches the case, which later took a good minute or two to replicate to put back in.
Wearing the WH950NB is comfortable, something I noticed as soon as I put them on for the first time. The ear covers, complete with soft leather and memory foam, felt a level above most budget headphones. At the top there is a built in adjustable headband, which is a nice feature, the ear covers however are not removable which, for such a high quality headset, I’d have expected.
The headset comes with a few buttons located on the back of the right earcup, which are labelled within the cup itself with L and R. The buttons control the volume directly, but also allows you to answer calls and pause music. There’s also a button for selected modes of noise cancelation allowing you to have three different presets, double tapping lets you change what listening mode to select.
The sound quality is exactly what you’d expect for a high-end set of headphones with crisp responsive audio that’s crystal clear. The quality persists when gaming, answering calls and listening to music while out in the world. The noise cancelling aspects are amazing when you are focusing on a show or music but allows you to seamlessly switch between noise cancelling and ambient noise at the push of a button (to remain safe when out and about crossing roads or in busy environments).
There is an Edifier app that allows you to adjust some of the noise cancellation settings as well as check the battery life and music playing, but it does have quite a heavy-handed approach with links to purchase other devices. I actually found myself using the headphones mainly without the app because most of its functionality could be controlled or checked either on my phone or simply with the buttons on the headset.
Bluetooth features allow you to seamlessly connect to multiple devices at the same time with its dual device connection, letting you game one minute and answer the phone the next across devices. It was also incredibly easy to pair devices with a simple hold of the larger button to connect.
It is worth noting that the headphone’s battery is listed as around 55 hours of use but this is without active noise cancellation, so expect a battery lifetime of around thirty hours when it is active. With a little over an hour and a half charge time you’re back up to full and ready to use, but, if you’re in a rush, it only requires as little as ten minutes for a few hours of use.
Overall, the Edifier WH950NB is a premium headset with great noise cancelling technology, high quality audio and compact portability with a case to carry on long journeys making it highly adaptable for nearly any situation.
The Edifier WH950NB can be purchased from the Edifier website.
