In Deaths of Peck you’re immortal, but the world is still determined to kill you

Deaths of Peck was featured during the recent London Games Festival as part of the New Game Plus event and had a nice little booth where I got to meet some of the team and play a short demo to see what the world of Peck is truly like.

Deaths of Peck has you playing as a 2D sidescrolling little goblin, who is dropped into a true tower of torment. You very quickly learn three things: You are immortal, you need to free your friends and you have to get out as fast as you can. With friendly goblins all trapped in cages it’s down to you to get them and yourself outta’ there in one, or two pieces.

After a quick chat with a member of the development team they mentioned that the design for peck was originally based on the Warhammer goblins and that Peck had always been a project they wanted to turn from art into a game since they started drawing the character back in 2020.

I think that Deaths of Peck frustrates me in the right way, when you fall or hit one of the many way to die in the wrong way it can set you back a fair bit but at the same time it does spur you on to try again and progress further by saving more goblins and at a much faster rate!

Although the demo itself was only one level there was a lot on offer with many different ways to “die” and bring yourself back to create some imaginative and fun exploration all while creating a sense of urgency with some clever visual elements in the background such as a big monster cooking your friends in a pot to get you to move faster and save them.

If you’d like to check out Deaths of Peck it is currently available to wishlist on Steam.
