On the fourth anniversary of the original game, Tag of Joy and Headup have announced the next title in the Crowns and Pawns series!
As part of the huge “Choices Matter Festival” on steam, Crowns and Pawns: Amber Road is set to transport players along the Amber Road as part of an exciting point-and-click adventure.
We managed to get a sneak peak of the original back before its release in 2020, with our very own Dann calling it “one of the most important adventure games to release in the coming years”. It seems he was right on the money, because the game definitely earnt enough attention to grab a sequel!
Crowns and Pawns: Kingdom of Deceit is a tough graphic adventure game in the spirit of the classics
In the original adventure, Kingdom of Deceit, players navigated a modern-day point and click adventure, inspired by the genre classics such as Monkey Island and Broken Sword, as they unravel a mystery dating all the way back to the 15th century.
Carrying on from Kingdom of Deceit, Amber Road sees protagonist Milda Kovas embroiled in a conspiracy, as she is accused of stealing the Sun Stone. On a quest to clear her name, she travels to Lithuania, starting off a continent-spanning quest across the globe. Baltic myths are tied together with stories from Europe’s long and… well… storied history, bouncing from Lithuania to Austria, Italy, and many more locations.
You can customise Milda’s appearance, and the game can be optimised to both gamepad or mouse and keyboard. Crowns and Pawns: Amber Road is fully voice-acted (featuring big names from favourite games like Oxenfree and God of War) and features hand painted background art combined with modern graphical flourishes. Also, the music is written by acclaimed composer Daniel Pharos (of Blackguards fame), meaning all the audio should be top notch.
