Experience the Joy of Cheesey Gubbins in Two Point Museum for Free this Weekend
Between the 18th and 22nd of June you can wrangle ghosts, revive dinosaurs, negotiate with aliens and care for animals in Two Point Museum for everyone’s favourite price: Free! Two Point Museum is a culmination of the series’ chaotic but creative management gameplay and just one weekend is a perfect taster for those of you who haven’t tried the genre or series yet. Pack your Cheesey Gubbins!
Two Point Museum is available on Steam and Xbox (sorry PlayStation enjoyers) for free this weekend to celebrate the series’ 10th birthday. Starting with Two Point Hospital in 2018 (for which development began in 2016, hence the 10th birthday) the series has gone from strength to strength — from hospital, to campus, to museum.
The core gameplay remains familiar in the most recent entry, but Museum holds a new depth and level of customisation the series hasn’t reached before. Jumping in over the weekend could see you manage a fossil museum, haunted house, “zooseum”, space center and walk-in jungle all without having to pay a penny. If it really gets its claws in you then there’s DLC packs for crossover content and added museum types and exhibits.

While management of your economy and workers is vital, the game manages to encourage a level of creativity and freedom that the genre can sometimes fall flat on. I very rarely felt I had to do anything I didn’t want to, and the requirements for items naturally pushed me to make a detailed, lively museum space in every location. Money troubles can be solved with a loan and, once you’re making a profit, a little fast-forward to pay it all off. The focus is less on technical difficulty and more on managing, expanding and most importantly: creating.
In addition to the base game mechanics you need to send experts off to fetch new exhibits. These expeditions are chance and preparation-based adventures that encourage hiring the right staff with the right skills, and rewards careful planning with Pristine exhibits for the biggest tourist buzz (and then, of course, the biggest amount of cash in your pocket).
When the latest expansion released we said:
“The entire Two Point series continues to give players an absurd amount of game for their money. Whilst there is no “just one more turn,” there absolutely is a constant feeling of “just one more expedition” or “I’ll finish one more piece of artwork,” before suddenly realising the alarm is going off and you have work in the morning.”
So best be warned, if you do hop into the free weekend you may find yourself not doing much else…
